Melinda Gray Crider
I began my formal education at the Atlanta College of Art, focusing on painting and sculpture. In the Apprenticeship Program at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center I began an in-depth study of clay and pottery.
I set up my first ceramic studio in 1980, complete with a potters wheel, electric kiln and a gas kiln. Drawing and painting with life models helped me understand human anatomy and move towards being the figurative sculptor that I am today.
In the last twenty years I have been focusing entirely on ceramics. I bring the information that I received as a potter and a painter to my work. I continue to attend workshops and seminars that help bring new energy to my practice.
My sculptures, paintings, mixed media works, and photography have been featured in numerous solo and group shows across America, paving the way to receive several awards.
