I have been recycling everything possible from my household for many years. Over the past two years I have been saving plastic bottle caps from my personal consumption because they are non-recyclable. I felt compelled to experiment with their possibilities in my artwork. It is interesting to me to see the repetitiveness of my own consumerism. Conceptually the cell-like imagery that has evolved through repetitive patterns is reminiscent of human or plant cells. Every life form begins with a cell. Every material, either man-made or natural begins with a pattern. The image will grow as I continue to collect plastic bottle caps. I plan to request participation from friends, family and various communities.
